Beta Life feels like someone took every horny daydream you had in college, shuffled them in a weird order, and then told you “ok, you figure it out now.” You’re this freshman tossed into a campus that basically works like a giant sandbox: classes, dorms, parties, weird little side areas, a bunch of people who want something from you, and you’re the idiot trying to keep grades, booze, and sex under some kind of control. The game doesn’t hold your hand much, which is nice and also annoying. One moment you’re wandering around doing normal point and click stuff like checking rooms, poking at random hotspots, and teasing out tiny puzzle bits, and then suddenly you’re in a tense turn based fight because you mouthed off to some meathead at a party after too many drinks. That mix is kind of the main thing here. It’s horny, but not just a click-next-scene porn viewer. You actually set up your own mess, then watch it explode in your face. Sometimes literally, if you build your “reputation” the right way.

The best parts are small, stupid things that stick out. Like walking into a house party you weren’t really invited to, already a bit drunk from pregaming while scrolling Discord and pretending you’d study, then accidentally triggering a scene where you’re caught in some bedroom with a half-dressed classmate, both of you trying to be quiet while people yell in the hallway. That feeling of “shit, I shouldn’t be here, but I kinda really should” is spot on. Sex scenes aren’t shy at all. There’s grinding on couches, sloppy oral between classes, getting your hand shoved down someone’s jeans in a cramped bathroom, girls riding you slow while music thumps next door. Nothing feels censored. Sometimes it even feels a bit too raw, like the game is trying to outdo Pornhub comments section in how dirty it gets. And still, in between, you’re stuck solving some dumb little puzzle about getting access to a restricted room or figuring out how to time your schedule, which somehow makes the horny payoff better and also more frustrating. Because you know there’s a hot scene locked behind that one teacher you forgot to talk to on Tuesday, and the game will just shrug and let you miss it.

What actually surprised me is how the adventure part and the social life tangle up. You’re not just clicking “party” and suddenly naked bodies fall from the sky. You wander, you talk, you pick options, you piss off some people and charm others, then that affects who shows up drunk next to you later. Turn based combat is kind of stupid in a lovable way. Half the time I’m thinking “why am I doing RPG-lite moves in a sex game?” and then I remember I picked the path that made my character a cocky little asshole who starts fights after keg stands. The combat never gets very deep, but it does something important: your big mouth in a dialogue option can come back as a punch in the nose. Or you lose, and you look pathetic, and then there’s a lewd scene that is more humiliation than victory. Someone is going to love that. Or hate it. I kinda did both. One thing that annoyed me is how sometimes the point and click stuff becomes pixel hunting for the right hotspot while I just want to get back to making out with that girl from the lit class. I had one moment where I wandered around the campus map for way too long, completely forget what quest chain I was on, just because I missed one stupid clickable thing near a locker. Still, when you finally line everything up, hit the right choice at a party, and end up with a wild threesome in some trashy student apartment while empty beer bottles roll on the floor, you kinda forgive a lot. Then you notice the tiny bug in the dialogue text and it annoys you again, but by then you’re already saving so you can try a different path tomorrow.

Mooncity feels like that messy shelf in my figure closet where everything is thrown together, but somehow my eye still goes first to the cute dangerous girl with blood on her sword. The story pretends to be about this quiet guy, Welt, shipbuilder boy who just wants to care his mom and mind his own boring life, but the city basically grabs him by the collar and drags him through filth and boobs at same time. One street has cult idiots, next corner some gang shaking people for coins, then suddenly, oh, fluffy-eared escort leaning on the wall, tail flicking, asking if he wants “company” like she’s talking about tea instead of grinding his soul out of his body. I like that the game acts serious and horny in same breath. Sometimes it even works. Sometimes it feels like drunk fanfic I still bookmark.

The visual novel parts do a lot of heavy lifting here. You click, you read, you choose, and then suddenly you are in a brothel room with a wolf-girl warrior who has scars on her belly and this smug smile like she already undressed you ten moves ago in her head. She talks about work, about hunting monsters, about how she loves strong men, and then mid-sentence she just straddles the poor boy and rides him until his legs look like jelly. There is no shy fade to black, she keeps talking, teasing, asking if he likes being squeezed by strong thighs, if he prefers claws on his back or soft fur on his face. And when you think “okay, that was the lewd scene”, she just flips him over and starts using him like toy. I hated that. I replayed it three times. The monster girls are like that too: one flower-demon girl in the arena smiles really sweet, with petals on her head like cute headband, then traps Welt in thick vines, spreads his legs and makes him cum just from rubbing plant tendrils against his cock while audience screams for blood. It is awful and yes, I have screenshots saved in my Telegram chat with myself. By the way, the fishing minigame can go fuck itself, why is it more annoying than fighting actual monsters? Anyway. The turn-based combat surprised me because sometimes it suddenly gets rough in a fun way, like you think this is just grinding, but losing a fight means you wake up half naked, covered in bite marks from some catgirl thug, wallet empty and dignity missing, and you kind of want to lose again just to see what she does if she gets bored. The game world is cruel, filthy, too horny in stupid places and not horny enough in one or two scenes I really wanted more, but Mooncity feels alive in that sick, cute, broken way I keep collecting in my heart.
